Character Info

✦ Kyoujurou is 177cm tall (compared to Yoake, who is 172cm tall)✦ Personality is confident, happy-go-lucky, positive, upbeat, and enthusiastically loud✦ Important design aspects include: red tipped hair, thick bushy black brows, almost cat-like smile, very eye catching wide red/gold/white eyes✦ He also has gold earrings! These aren't canon, but I like him with them :)

Relationship Info

✦ their relationship is built from mutual respect and adoration for one another; both are not terribly public with their displays of affection, but when they are, it's sickeningly sweet✦ kyoujurou is very "hands off", knowing yoake is capable of taking care of herself - it lends to the impression that they are more friends than lovers to those who do not know bettere✦ they mutually commiserate over their shared roles as scions of two great and powerful noble families of exceeding import in the corps✦ as children, they were unofficially arranged to marry. this engagement fell apart after several consecutive family tragedies✦ Years later, they fall in love slowly, their affections for one another growing over the course of their lives but culminating in the late teens / early twenties✦ left heartbroken by sanemi's rejection, yoake found solace away from the spring estate by tutoring and training senjurou, who at this point was abandoned by his father✦ kyoujurou is the first to realise he has fallen in love with yoake after returning to the chrysanthemum estate to find yoake and senjurou asleep in the gardens together after training. the sight warmed his heart and made him realise he wanted to cherish yoake forever✦ after several years of courtship, which is never sanctioned or blessed by shinjurou as he rejects the pairing, yoake falls pregnant and kyoujurou asks her to marry him✦ they are happily married for a few short months before kyoujurou's mission on the mugen train, which ultimately leads to his death✦ you can read a more in depth account of their relationship here

Character Info

✦ Sanemi is 179cm tall (compared to Yoake, who is 172cm tall)✦ Personality is over-confident, serious, brash and rude to people who sees as inferior. He is impatient and can be quite aggressive. He is never rude to the elderly or children, and is extremely polite to those he believes deserves respect✦ Important design aspects include: lavender eyes, scars on face and chest, muscular build with broad shoulders but a thin waist✦ He also has gold earrings! These aren't canon, but I like him with them :)✦ note his two distinct eyelashes. charm point! please draw them <3

Relationship Info

✦ Sanemi was taken in by Yoake's family when he was 14. he learned her family's ancestral art of wind breathing. they've lived together ever since at her family's estate and grew up close✦ Sanemi and Yoake were each other's firsts in every regard. Shortly after consummating their relationship, yoake's uncle and the head of the household at the time was killed✦ the unfortunate timing and circumstance of akihito's death lead to a series of unfortunate events that ended with masachika's death as well. unable to cope with a mixture of grief, guilt, and anger, sanemi rejected and pushed yoake away, ending their romantic relationship and deeply hurting their friendship✦ despite this, sanemi has always loved Yoake, and Yoake alone. she is his first and last love, even if he refuses to apologise for his actions out of a sense of worthlessness✦ sanemi is extremely respectful and supportive of yoake's relationship with kyoujurou, despite his own feelings✦ yoake and sanemi only rekindle their relationship a year after kyoujurou passes✦ he is notably a different person around yoake; attentive, loving, patient, and doting✦ despite disliking pda, he's terribly attached to yoake; he has a fear of losing her. he has a bit of a tsundere / kuudere personality around her

✦ Sanemi's demon slayer mark is a green pinwheel-like symbol on his lower cheek✦ He gains two new prominent scars across his chest during his battle with kokushibo✦ he also has his index and middle fingers on his right hand cut off

Design Notes

✦ Note that he is missing his index and middle fingers on his right hand only✦ sanemi prefers traditional clothing over western clothing, so normally wears yukatas and kimonos. he always leaves his chest bare though.✦ sanemi never picks up a sword again

✦ these chibis technically aren't epilogue (he still has his fingers on his right hand) but they're so cute lmao also they give you an idea of how he dresses!

✦ Yoake suffers from severe injuries during the final battle that can be seen on her epilogue design, but it's unlikely i'd ever request that in a commission since it would be fresh and bloody and just messy lol you can see it depicted in the gallery though

Weapon DESIGN

✦ her nichirin blade is a unique construction of twin dual-blades attached to a polearm to made a double-headed naginata✦ the weapon is completely de-constructable for discreet carry and use as single or dual blades✦ she practices an esoteric art that she derived from wind breathing called crane breathing

✦ lost her left eye, blind in it, keeps it mostly closed✦ never wears the eyepatch at home or with sanemi or her family, it's only for when she leaves the estate. she doesn't want to scare children or strangers✦ note the missing fingers are her left hand only, her right hand is fine. it is her personal left, or our right from our perspective

I try to distinguish between yukata designs depending on who yoake is paired with. The yukata designs are usually vague enough to indicate various different AUs or timelines without be trying to fit them into their "canon" storyline.i come up with new designs regularly, so the artwork on the right doesn't necessarily reflect the design inside

This is the current 2024 design; you will notice most commissioned artwork of Yoake x Sanemi in 2023 feature their previous yukata design.please feel free to simplify the designs as much as you want and wherever is appropriate! You can use the patterns I've included below to make things easier.the family crest / kamon is only featured on Sanemi's haori but it is technically yoake's family crest; you can add it to her design if you want!Note for sanemi: his yukata is always a little open and shows off his chest. he's a slut.I used patterns and brushes from clip studio paint; please let me know if you want me to link the assets (they may not be free anymore however) or if you'd like me to send you the .clip or .psd files.

visual motif

plum blossoms

A strong visual motif for Yoake (and in turn, her relationship with Sanemi), is red plum blossoms. Plum blossoms are the symbol of the Kakutani family.When using plum blossoms, please use red or white plum blossoms, never use pink.Also note the differences between plum blossoms and other popular Japanese spring flowers, like cherry, peach, or apple. The last two images are a diagram to showcase differences. Plum blossoms have fat, round petals with no point or notches.
